Peripheral vision problems mean that you are unable to see properly around the edges, even though your central vision is fine.Peripheral vision is a part of vision that occurs outside the very center of gaze. Sudden loss of peripheral vision may be a symptom of stroke. People with limited peripheral vision lack ability to see to the side and are forced to turn their eyes, or even their entire heads to see what is not directly in front of them. Some common causes for peripheral vision loss are:

Glaucoma

Retinitis pigmentosa

Usher Syndrome

Brain tumor

Conventional eyeglasses or contact lenses can be used to correct permanent loss of peripheral vision. A type of lens known as a prism sometimes can be added to eyeglasses to expand the field of view for people with peripheral vision loss.
